PRESENTING DOROTHY DANDRIDGE EXHIBITION

The National Museum of African American Cinema and the
International Agency for Minority Artist Affairs will present a
historical exhibition and accompanying lecture series to mark
the 75th birthday of noted actress Dorothy Dandridge. This
program will be held in the Art Gallery, ACP, Jr. State Office
Building, 163 West 125th Street in Harlem.

On Saturday, July 16th at 1pm, noted film director and Emmy
Award winner William Greaves will lecture. Doors open at 12
noon for the exhibitional viewing. Professor Donald Bogle, author
and scholar will lecture on Saturday, August 6th at 1pm. These
programs are free and opened to the general public. The
exhibitional component will continue on view until September 1,
2005.

This major exhibition features over 150 rare and historical items
on Dorothy Dandridge, photographs, movie posters, stills,
autographed items, printed articles, contracts, legal papers,
clothing, and much more. In addition, Dorothy Dandridge films
will be shown. The center of this program is the political debate
of African American female stars like Dorothy Dandridge and
Hollywood's Black femininity problems during the racial climate
of the forties and fifties. For more information,
