Utilizing a wide range of styles and forms, hers is a dance with a wholly unique and dynamic movement style. Her own company VON USSAR danceworks held its successful debut in 2002 at the Joyce SoHo with three sold-out performances and enthusiastic critical response.

The company performed at the 2003 Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out Festival and returned to the Joyce SoHo in 2004 for their two-year anniversary season. VON USSAR danceworks' New York season will be held two nights at the Citigroup Theater in the Joan Weill Center for Dance at The Ailey Studios on July 9 and 10, 2005. Von Ussar danceworks is thrilled with the opportunity to perform at Alvin Ailey's new theatre, a much larger and more traditional performance space. The season will start with a performance and reception on July 9th. This special night will present a new company premiere as well as repertory work, and features a solo by special guest Nasha Thomas-Schmitt, who was a principal dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for twelve years.
