Michael Eugene Archer, also known as the Grammy Award-winning R&B artist D'Angelo, received a suspended prison sentence this morning after being convicted of cocaine possession.

Archer pleaded no contest to the felony charge in a Chesterfield County courtroom.

Retired Judge William R. Shelton sentenced Archer to three years in prison with all three years suspended. The 31-year-old musician was asked to pay court costs.

"Mr. Archer is happy to put this behind him," said Defense Attorney Ned Mikula.

Archer, a Richmond native and resident of Midlothian, appeared in court wearing black suit. A handful of his friends and supporters sat in the back of the courtroom.
Hopefully D'Angelo is getting the lep that he needs and will return to the music world soon.
